Fashion stock manufacturers

When evaluating fashion stock, prioritize fabric composition (e.g., natural fibers vs. synthetics) and GSM (Grams per Square Meter) to ensure material thickness meets market expectations. Inspect stitching density (ideally 10-12 stitches per inch) and the quality of trims and accessories like YKK zippers or reinforced buttons. For stock lots, it is critical to verify the AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) 2.5 standard to minimize the risk of receiving defective items.

Ensure all garments carry accurate fiber content labels and care instructions in the target market's language. For the US market, verify CPSIA compliance for children's wear and flammability standards (16 CFR Part 1610). For the EU, ensure products are free from restricted substances under REACH regulations and hold OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification to guarantee the absence of harmful chemicals.

Ready-to-Ship stock offers significantly shorter lead times (3-7 days) and lower Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), which is ideal for testing market trends or rapid inventory turnover. However, OEM production allows for full brand customization, exclusive designs, and better control over size specifications tailored to your specific demographic. For B2B buyers, a hybrid approach—sourcing stock for basics and OEM for hero pieces—often yields the best ROI.

Always request a detailed size chart and compare it against regional standards (e.g., Asian sizes are typically 1-2 sizes smaller than US/EU sizes). Request physical samples or 'fit photos' on models to check the drape and silhouette. Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com often provide spec sheets that include measurements for chest, waist, and garment length to prevent high return rates due to sizing discrepancies.

The primary risk is inventory inconsistency, where the quality of the bulk shipment does not match the sample. Mitigate this by using Third-Party Inspection services (like V-Trust or SGS) before final payment. Another risk is intellectual property (IP) infringement; ensure the stock does not feature unauthorized brand logos or copyrighted prints to avoid customs seizures.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; even for stock items, increasing your order can reduce unit costs by 10-20%. Negotiate payment terms such as a 30% deposit and 70% balance after inspection. For long-term partnerships, ask for exclusivity on certain designs or first-right-of-refusal on new stock arrivals to maintain a competitive edge.

For fashion stock, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most cost-effective for large volumes, while Air Freight is better for high-value or time-sensitive seasonal trends. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging and silica gel packets to prevent mold during transit. Always clarify Incoterms (e.g., FOB vs. DDP) to understand who bears the cost of import duties and local delivery.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to protect your payments until delivery is confirmed. Conduct a Supplier Audit to verify their business license, production capacity, and 'Audited Supplier' status. Avoid direct wire transfers to personal accounts; always use official corporate bank accounts verified by the platform.
