Food additives sodium benzoate powder manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize purity levels, which should typically be ≥99.0% for food-grade applications. Ensure the product meets BP/USP/FCC (British Pharmacopoeia, US Pharmacopeia, or Food Chemicals Codex) standards. Additionally, check the particle size (mesh) to ensure it matches your production requirements, as powder form offers faster dissolution rates compared to granular forms in liquid processing.

Verify that the supplier holds ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications for food safety management. For specific markets, check for KOSHER and HALAL certifications, which are often mandatory for global food distribution. Ensure the packaging includes a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch and that the product complies with E211 (EU food additive code) regulations.

Sodium Benzoate is primarily used as a preservative in acidic environments (pH < 4.5). It is highly effective in inhibiting the growth of mold, yeast, and some bacteria in carbonated drinks, fruit juices, pickles, and sauces. In the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors, it serves as a stabilizer and anti-corrosive agent.

The product should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse away from incompatible substances like strong oxidizing agents and acids. The standard shelf life is 24 months when kept in its original, unopened moisture-proof packaging (usually 25kg kraft paper bags with PE inner liners).

The primary risks include regulatory non-compliance and moisture damage during transit. Always request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) to ensure the shipping agent handles the cargo correctly. To mitigate quality risks, use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to verify the chemical composition before the balance payment is made.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers; for Sodium Benzoate, ordering in full container loads (FCL) can reduce unit costs by 10-15% compared to LCL. Negotiate for free samples (shipping excluded) to conduct lab testing. For long-term partnerships, aim for staggered payment terms (e.g., 30% deposit, 70% against BL copy) to protect your cash flow.

Sodium Benzoate is generally classified as non-hazardous for transport, but it is sensitive to humidity. Ensure the supplier uses pallets with shrink-wrap to prevent bag breakage and moisture ingress. For shipping to the US or EU, confirm the supplier is familiar with ISF filing and REACH registration requirements to avoid customs delays.

Always conduct transactions through secured payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Utilize their Audit Reports to verify the supplier's factory existence and production capacity. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the proforma invoice.
