Gardenia extract powder factory manufacturers

When sourcing from a factory, the primary focus should be on Geniposide content, which typically ranges from 10% to 98% depending on the application. For food coloring purposes, you must specify the Color Value (E-value) for Gardenia Blue or Gardenia Yellow. Ensure the extract is water-soluble and has a low moisture content (typically <5%) to prevent clumping and ensure a long shelf life.

To ensure safety and compliance, the factory must possess ISO 22000 or HACCP for food safety management. If the product is intended for the US market, FDA registration is essential. For specialized markets, look for Kosher and Halal certifications. Additionally, a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch, detailing heavy metal limits (Lead <3ppm, Arsenic <2ppm) and microbiological purity, is non-negotiable.

Request a High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) fingerprint from the factory to verify the purity of the active compounds. You should also ask for stability test reports regarding pH sensitivity and heat resistance, especially if the powder is used in beverages or high-temperature food processing. Third-party testing (e.g., SGS or Eurofins) is recommended to confirm the absence of synthetic dyes or illegal additives.

Gardenia extract is widely used in pharmaceuticals (anti-inflammatory properties), food and beverage (natural coloring), and cosmetics (antioxidants). For pharmaceutical use, prioritize high-purity Geniposide (>95%). For food use, focus on Gardenia Yellow or Blue pigments with high light stability. Always clarify the mesh size (usually 80-100 mesh) to ensure the powder integrates perfectly into your production line.

Adulteration with cheaper synthetic pigments is a common risk. To mitigate this, use the 'Escrow' payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after quality verification. Conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and compare the bulk sample's HPLC profile against the initial pre-production sample.

Direct factories usually have an MOQ of 10kg to 25kg (one standard drum). To get better pricing, offer a long-term procurement forecast rather than a one-off purchase. Negotiate based on Incoterms 2020 (FOB or CIF) and ask for a breakdown of the extraction ratio (e.g., 10:1) versus active ingredient concentration to ensure you are paying for potency, not just volume.

Gardenia extract is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture). Ensure the factory uses double-layer food-grade PE bags inside fiber drums with vacuum sealing. For international shipping, ensure the HS Code (typically 1302.19) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. If shipping by sea, request silica gel desiccant packs inside the container to prevent humidity damage during transit.

Check the CITES appendix and local invasive species regulations, although Gardenia is generally safe. Ensure the factory provides a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by customs authorities (CIQ in China), which is often required for the importation of plant-derived products into the EU, USA, and Australia.
