Rattan rocking chair manufacturers

Natural rattan offers an authentic, eco-friendly aesthetic and high tensile strength but is susceptible to moisture and UV damage, making it ideal for indoor or covered patio use. In contrast, PE (Polyethylene) rattan is a synthetic alternative designed for all-weather durability, offering superior resistance to rain, fading, and cracking. For B2B buyers targeting outdoor furniture markets, UV-stabilized PE rattan paired with a powder-coated aluminum frame is the industry standard for longevity.

The safety of a rocking chair depends on the arc curvature of the runners and the balance of the center of gravity. Buyers should verify that the chair has anti-tip stoppers to prevent backward flipping. For commercial grades, the frame should support a static load capacity of at least 150kg (330 lbs). Ensure the joints use heavy-duty hardware or traditional mortise and tenon structures reinforced with high-strength binding to prevent squeaking or structural failure over time.

For the US market, products must comply with TB117-2013 for flame retardancy of cushions and CPSIA if marketed for residential use. For the EU, EN 581-1/2/3 standards for outdoor furniture safety and mechanical requirements are essential. Additionally, natural rattan products often require a Phytosanitary Certificate and Fumigation Certificate to clear customs and ensure the prevention of pest spread.

High-quality weaving should be tight, uniform, and free of protruding ends that could snag clothing. Check for hand-woven craftsmanship which typically offers better tension than machine-made versions. The finish should include a clear protective lacquer for natural rattan or solution-dyed pigments for PE rattan to ensure color consistency. Requesting a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to check for 'hollow' spots in the weave is highly recommended.

The biggest risks are moisture damage (mold) and structural deformation during transit. To mitigate this, ensure the supplier uses silica gel desiccant packets inside the packaging and wraps the chairs in multi-layer bubble wrap or EPE foam. For high-volume orders, stackable designs are preferred to reduce shipping volume and lower the Total Landed Cost.

Always utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to protect your payments until delivery is confirmed. When negotiating, request a detailed Proforma Invoice (PI) that specifies the rattan density, frame thickness (e.g., 1.2mm vs 1.5mm), and fabric GSM. For large orders, negotiate a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment against the Bill of Lading (B/L) to maintain financial leverage.

Due to the high volume-to-weight ratio, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the only economically feasible option. To optimize costs, look for suppliers who offer KD (Knock-Down) packaging, which can reduce the shipping volume by up to 40% compared to fully assembled units. Ensure the supplier provides clear assembly manuals to maintain end-user satisfaction.
