Barley grass powder manufacturers

High-quality Barley Grass Powder should be vibrant green, indicating a high chlorophyll content and minimal oxidation. Ensure the powder is fine-milled (typically 200 mesh or higher) for better solubility in liquids. From a nutritional standpoint, verify the protein content (ideally >20%) and the absence of fillers like maltodextrin. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to check for heavy metal limits (Lead, Arsenic, Mercury) and microbial safety.

As a food product, it must meet strict safety regulations. For the US market, FDA registration and FSMA compliance are required. For the EU, it must adhere to EFSA standards regarding pesticide residues. If you are marketing it as organic, the supplier must provide USDA Organic or EU Organic certification (TC - Transaction Certificate). Additionally, HACCP and ISO 22000 certifications are essential to prove the supplier has a robust food safety management system.

Barley Grass Powder is made by drying the whole grass leaf and grinding it, meaning it contains insoluble fiber. Barley Grass Juice Powder is made by first juicing the grass and then spray-drying the juice, resulting in a higher concentration of nutrients and 100% water solubility. Juice powder is generally more expensive but preferred for premium supplement brands due to its potency and lack of grit.

Barley grass is highly sensitive to light, heat, and oxygen. For bulk orders, ensure the supplier uses double-layer food-grade PE bags inside aluminum foil bags, housed within a sturdy fiber drum. For retail-ready packaging, vacuum-sealed stand-up pouches with UV protection are recommended. The inclusion of oxygen absorbers can extend the shelf life to 24 months.

Pesticide contamination is a major risk in botanical sourcing. You should mandate third-party testing (such as SGS or Eurofins) before the balance payment is made. Specifically, request a Multi-Residue Screen that covers at least 500+ types of pesticides to ensure the batch meets the destination country's Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs).

When sourcing on Made-in-China.com, look for Audited Suppliers with high-level gold status. Negotiate based on volume-based pricing tiers; for example, a 1,000kg order should yield a 15-20% discount compared to a 100kg order. Ask for free samples but offer to cover the air express cost to show you are a serious buyer. Always clarify the Incoterms (FOB vs. DDP) to avoid hidden port charges.

Use secured payment methods provided by the platform to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. For first-time large orders, consider using a Letter of Credit (L/C) or a 30% deposit / 70% against Bill of Lading (B/L) copy structure. Never send full payment via unprotected wire transfers to unverified accounts.

Ensure the HS Code (typically 1212.99 or 0712.90) is correctly declared to avoid misclassification fines. You must provide a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the exporting country's authorities. If the product is for human consumption, ensure the labeling complies with local language and nutritional labeling laws (e.g., Supplement Facts panel for the US) to prevent customs seizures.
