Chinese dreadlocks hair extensions manufacturers

To ensure product quality, perform a burn test: human hair turns to ash and smells like burning protein, while synthetic fibers melt into a hard bead and smell like plastic. For B2B sourcing, prioritize Remy hair which keeps cuticles intact, preventing tangling and ensuring a natural luster and longer lifespan (12-24 months) compared to synthetic alternatives.

Focus on the crochet technique density; well-made extensions should be firm but flexible, not stiff. Check the loc width consistency (common sizes are 0.4cm, 0.6cm, and 0.8cm) and ensure the loose hair at the top (the 'open' end) is at least 2-3 inches long to facilitate seamless installation. For colored locs, verify that the bleaching and dyeing process hasn't compromised the tensile strength of the hair.

Ensure suppliers provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), especially for colored or chemically treated hair, to prove the absence of harmful heavy metals or formaldehyde. For the US market, compliance with General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) standards is recommended. Additionally, look for ISO 9001 certified factories to ensure batch-to-batch consistency in texture and color.

Negotiate based on weight vs. strand count. Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer tiered pricing; for example, orders over 500-1000 strands typically qualify for a 15-25% discount. Consider sourcing natural black (#1B) in bulk and performing custom dyeing locally if you have the facilities, as pre-colored locs carry a higher premium and higher MOQs.

The biggest risk is material substitution (mixing synthetic or animal hair with human hair). To mitigate this, use Trade Resources and third-party inspection services available through Made-in-China.com. Always request a pre-shipment sample from the actual production batch and utilize Escrow payment services to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of quality.

Hair extensions are lightweight but high-value. Use Express Air Freight (DHL/FedEx/UPS) for small to medium orders to ensure fast turnover (3-5 days). For customs, ensure the HS Code (6704.20 for human hair) is correctly declared. Be aware of import duties in your specific country; for instance, some regions have strict quarantine requirements for raw human hair, so ensure the supplier provides a Fumigation/Disinfection Certificate.

Provide a detailed spec sheet including length (stretched vs. loc length), diameter, color code (using a standard Hair Color Ring), and end-style (blunt or wispy). Request video inspections of the production line. Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com often provide OEM/ODM services, including customized packaging and branding, which is essential for building a private label brand.
