Custom medal manufacturers

The most common materials are Zinc Alloy, Iron, and Brass. Zinc Alloy is the industry standard for 3D designs because of its high fluidity and injection molding capabilities, allowing for intricate details and a premium weight. Iron is a cost-effective choice for flat, 2D designs but is prone to rusting if the plating is damaged. Brass is the highest quality, offering the best durability and a 'heavier' feel, typically reserved for high-end commemorative awards.

For a classic, high-end look, Soft Enamel is popular as it creates a recessed effect between metal borders. If a smooth, flat surface is required, Hard Enamel (Cloisonné) is the premium choice, offering superior scratch resistance and a jewelry-like finish. For complex logos with gradients or photographic images, Offset Printing with an Epoxy Coating is the most technically feasible method to ensure brand color accuracy (Pantone matching).

Medals must comply with chemical safety regulations, particularly regarding heavy metals. Ensure the supplier provides SGS or Intertek test reports confirming the product is Lead-Free and Nickel-Free. For the U.S. market, compliance with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) is mandatory if the medals are for children. For the EU, adherence to REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is required to ensure no hazardous substances are present in the plating or ribbons.

Request a Salt Spray Test report to verify the plating's resistance to corrosion and oxidation. For ribbons, specify Sublimation Printing or Woven Polyester to ensure colorfastness and tensile strength. Ensure the attachment (V-sewn or H-sewn) is reinforced to prevent the medal from detaching during use.

When providing custom artwork, ensure you have the legal right to use the logos. Conversely, protect your own designs by signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with the supplier. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have a proven track record of respecting IP rights and maintaining confidentiality for OEM/ODM projects.

Focus on Volume-Based Tiered Pricing. For orders exceeding 5,000 units, the mold fee should be waived. Negotiate based on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including the cost of custom packaging and neck ribbons. Ask for a pre-production sample (usually $50-$100) to be credited toward the final mass production invoice to ensure quality alignment before the full transfer of funds.

Medals are heavy; for quantities over 500 pieces, Sea Freight or Rail Freight is more economical, but requires a 45-60 day lead time. For urgent events, Air Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS) is necessary but expensive. Always include a 7-10 day buffer in your timeline to account for potential Customs Clearance delays or seasonal logistics congestion.

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after the shipping documents are verified. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Always request a Proforma Invoice (PI) that clearly states the product specifications, lead time, and refund policy for defective items.
