Custom metal token coin manufacturers

The choice of material significantly impacts the durability, weight, and perceived value of the token. Zinc Alloy is the most popular choice for 3D designs due to its excellent fluidity during injection molding. Iron is a cost-effective option for high-volume orders, though it requires proper plating to prevent rust. For a premium feel and superior corrosion resistance, Brass or Copper are ideal, especially for commemorative or high-end gaming tokens. Always ensure the material is lead-free and nickel-free to meet international safety standards.

Understanding the process helps in achieving the desired aesthetic. Die Casting is best for complex, multi-dimensional (3D) shapes, while Die Striking is preferred for sharp, 2D high-relief details. For coloring, Soft Enamel provides a recessed textured feel, whereas Hard Enamel (Cloisonné) offers a smooth, durable, and premium flat surface. If your design involves intricate gradients or photos, request Offset Printing with an Epoxy Coating to protect the image.

To avoid production errors, clearly define the diameter (usually 20mm-50mm) and thickness (standard 1.5mm-3.0mm). Specify the plating finish, such as shiny gold, antique silver, or matte nickel. For tokens used in vending machines or arcade systems, the weight tolerance and electromagnetic properties must be strictly controlled to ensure compatibility with electronic coin acceptors.

B2B buyers must verify that products comply with REACH (EU) or CPSIA (US) regulations, particularly regarding heavy metal content. If the tokens are intended for children (e.g., board games), they must pass EN71 safety testing. Requesting a Third-Party Inspection Report from the supplier before shipment is a standard industry practice to guarantee quality consistency.

Custom tokens require a unique steel mold. Ensure the contract specifies that the mold ownership belongs to the buyer and that the supplier cannot reuse your design for other clients. On Made-in-China.com, you can find 'Audited Suppliers' who are more likely to respect Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and offer mold storage for repeat orders (usually up to 2-3 years).

Always use Secure Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your funds are protected until the goods are shipped. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. For large orders, implement a 30% deposit and 70% balance payment structure after receiving a successful Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) report.

Metal tokens are high-density and heavy. For small batches (under 50kg), Air Express (DHL/FedEx/UPS) is fastest but expensive. For bulk orders, Sea Freight (LCL) is the most economical, though it requires a longer lead time. Consider DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you want the supplier to handle all customs clearance and import duties, simplifying the process for the buyer.

Focus on Total Volume Commitment rather than a single order to secure better pricing. Ask for unit price breaks at 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 pieces. Since metal prices fluctuate, confirm the price validity period (usually 15-30 days). Requesting a pre-production sample is non-negotiable to verify the plating color and engraving depth before the full run begins.
