Damask fabric manufacturers

When evaluating Damask, focus on material composition and weave density. High-end Damask typically uses long-staple cotton, silk, or high-quality synthetic blends. Ensure the thread count (TPI) is sufficient to support the intricate reversible patterns without snagging. For upholstery use, verify the Martindale rub count, aiming for over 20,000 rubs for residential use and 30,000+ for commercial applications to ensure durability.

Request test reports adhering to ISO 105-B02 for colorfastness to light and ISO 6330 for domestic washing and drying. For B2B procurement, ensure the fabric maintains a Grade 4 or higher on the grayscale for color change. Additionally, specify a shrinkage rate of less than 3% to prevent issues during the final garment or furniture manufacturing process.

For the EU market, the fabric must comply with REACH regulations regarding chemical substances. For the US, ensure it meets OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 to guarantee it is free from harmful substances. If the Damask is intended for home textiles or upholstery, it must meet flammability standards such as BS 5852 (UK) or CAL 117 (USA).

Lightweight Damask (100-150 GSM) is ideal for apparel, scarves, and luxury linings. Medium-weight (150-250 GSM) is best suited for tablecloths, curtains, and decorative pillows. Heavyweight Damask (above 250 GSM) is specifically engineered for upholstery, wall coverings, and heavy drapery where structural integrity is paramount.

Always utilize a Golden Sample protocol. Retain a signed and sealed sample from the supplier before mass production begins. For large orders, hire a third-party inspection service (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI) to ensure the bulk fabric matches the approved sample's weight, pattern clarity, and hand-feel.

Focus on volume-based pricing tiers. Suppliers often offer a 10-15% discount when moving from a 500-meter order to a 2,000-meter order. Additionally, negotiate payment terms such as 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) to protect your cash flow and ensure the supplier fulfills the shipping obligations.

Prioritize suppliers who accept Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com, which acts as an escrow-like protection. Avoid direct transfers to private bank accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the business license and the proforma invoice to prevent payment fraud.

Specify protective packaging requirements in the contract. Fabric rolls should be wrapped in double-layer plastic film and placed inside heavy-duty cardboard tubes to prevent crushing or moisture damage during sea freight. For LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments, request palletization to minimize handling damage at transshipment ports.
