Electric vehicle manufacturers

When sourcing EVs, you must prioritize the Battery Type (LFP vs. NCM) and Battery Capacity (kWh), as these determine the vehicle's lifespan and range. Ensure the NEDC or WLTP range meets your market requirements. Additionally, verify the Motor Power (kW) and Torque for performance, and confirm the Charging Interface (Type 2, CCS2, or GBT) is compatible with the local charging infrastructure in your target country.

Compliance is critical for road legality. For the European market, vehicles must have WVTA (Whole Vehicle Type Approval) and CE certification. For the US, they must meet DOT and FMVSS standards. Ensure the batteries have UN38.3 certification for safe transport and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets). For the GCC region, GCCSO certification is required. Always request E-Mark certification for components like lights and tires.

Request a BMS (Battery Management System) report to understand how the vehicle handles thermal runaway and overcharge protection. Ask for crash test ratings (e.g., Euro NCAP or C-NCAP). It is highly recommended to conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) through third-party agencies like SGS or TÜV to verify the IP67/IP68 waterproof rating of the battery pack and motor.

Since EVs require specialized software and hardware, ensure the supplier provides Diagnostic Tools and Software Licenses. Negotiate for a spare parts package (usually 1-3% of order value) including high-wear items like brake pads and filters. Confirm if the supplier offers remote technical training for your local mechanics and a warranty period of at least 5-8 years on the battery pack.

The biggest risk is Regulatory Non-compliance, which can lead to customs seizure. Mitigate this by using Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure payment is only released upon verification of documents. Another risk is Battery Degradation during transit; ensure the supplier sets the State of Charge (SoC) to 30-50% before shipping to maintain battery health.

EVs are classified as Class 9 Dangerous Goods due to lithium batteries. You must use specialized Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) shipping for large volumes to prevent damage, or Containers with specialized lashing for smaller batches. Ensure the freight forwarder provides a Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) and check if your destination port has the equipment to handle large-scale EV discharges.

Focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for Exclusivity Agreements if you are a regional distributor. Ask for SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) or CKD (Completely Knocked Down) options if your country offers lower import duties for local assembly. Always clarify Incoterms (typically FOB or CIF) to define exactly where the risk transfers.

Use Letters of Credit (L/C) for large-scale transactions to protect your capital. For initial orders, utilize the Audit Reports available on Made-in-China.com to verify the supplier's factory scale and export history. Never transfer full payments to private accounts; always use verified corporate bank accounts listed on the platform.
