Epdm washer manufacturers

When selecting EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) washers, you must prioritize Durometer Hardness (Shore A), typically ranging from 40 to 90 Shore A, to ensure the correct balance between flexibility and seal integrity. Additionally, verify the Temperature Resistance range, which should ideally span from -50°C to +150°C. For outdoor or roofing applications, ensure the material is specifically rated for UV and Ozone resistance to prevent premature cracking or degradation.

For the US market, ensure compliance with ASTM D2000 classifications for rubber products. If the washers are used in plumbing or food-grade applications, they must meet NSF/ANSI 61 or FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 standards. For European exports, REACH and RoHS certifications are essential to confirm the absence of hazardous substances like lead or phthalates.

Request a Compression Set Test report (ASTM D395), which measures the rubber's ability to return to its original thickness after prolonged compressive stresses. A lower percentage indicates better sealing longevity. Furthermore, for bonded washers (EPDM + Metal), check the adhesion strength to ensure the rubber does not separate from the galvanized steel or stainless steel backing under high torque.

EPDM washers are primarily used in Self-Drilling Roofing Screws to provide a watertight seal in construction. They are also widely utilized in Automotive cooling systems due to their resistance to glycol-based fluids, and in HVAC systems for vibration dampening and air-tight sealing. Their excellent electrical insulation properties also make them suitable for weatherproofing electrical enclosures.

This is a common risk in low-cost sourcing. To mitigate this, request a Material Data Sheet (MDS) and a third-party Polymer Content Analysis. Virgin EPDM has a distinct matte finish and superior elasticity; recycled content often results in a shiny surface and a strong chemical odor. Use Made-in-China.com's 'Audited Supplier' reports to verify the manufacturer's raw material sourcing capabilities.

Focus on Tiered Pricing based on weight or unit count (e.g., 50k, 100k, 500k units). Since EPDM is a petroleum-based product, negotiate a Price Adjustment Clause linked to raw material market fluctuations. Additionally, ask for free tooling/molding fees if the annual order volume exceeds a specific threshold, which can save significant upfront costs for custom sizes.

Always utilize Escrow-based payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com (Star Direct) to ensure funds are only released after the goods pass inspection. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. For large orders, consider a Letter of Credit (L/C) to protect both parties against non-performance or shipping delays.

Due to the high weight-to-volume ratio, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical choice. Ensure the supplier uses heavy-duty double-walled cartons and plastic pallets with shrink-wrap to prevent moisture ingress during sea transit, which could lead to oxidation of the metal backing on bonded EPDM washers.
