When sourcing high-performance athleisure, prioritize Nylon/Spandex blends (typically 75/25 or 80/20) which offer superior 4-way stretch and shape retention. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-wicking and quick-dry treatments that remain effective after at least 50 wash cycles. For 'pet-hair resistant' or 'cloudful' textures, verify the use of interlock knitting techniques and brushed finishes that provide a soft hand-feel without sacrificing durability.

For the US market, products must comply with CPSIA (especially for lead and phthalates in zippers/trims) and FTC labeling requirements (fiber content and country of origin). For the EU, adherence to REACH regulations regarding chemical substances is mandatory. Additionally, obtaining OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification is highly recommended to guarantee the garment is free from harmful substances, which is a major selling point for B2B buyers.

Focus on the seam construction; high-quality activewear should utilize flatlock stitching to prevent chafing during movement. Check the GSM (Grams per Square Meter) of the fabric—leggings should typically be between 220-300 GSM to ensure they are 'squat-proof' (non-see-through). Inspect the gusset crotch design and the elasticity of the waistband to ensure ergonomic fit and comfort.

Discuss Private Labeling options such as heat-transfer neck labels, custom hangtags, and branded packaging. For functional design, inquire about integrated pockets, built-in shorts for exercise dresses, and removable chest pads. Most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com can provide low-MOQ custom colors if you provide specific Pantone codes.

Always utilize Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your funds are only released after delivery confirmation. Conduct a factory audit or hire a third-party inspection service (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify that the bulk quality matches the approved sample.

For large volumes, Sea Freight (FCL or LCL) is the most economical, though it has longer lead times (30-45 days). If you need to restock quickly, consider Sea-Air combined transport. Always negotiate Incoterms clearly; FOB (Free On Board) is generally preferred for buyers who have their own freight forwarders, as it allows for better control over costs and logistics visibility.

Ensure that the designs you source do not infringe on existing patents or trademarks. When providing your own designs, sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and a Non-Compete Agreement with the manufacturer. Verify that the supplier has the right to export the specific designs and ask for authorization letters if you are purchasing branded-style goods.

Focus on long-term partnership potential rather than just the lowest price for a single order. You can negotiate a tiered pricing structure where the unit price drops as your annual volume increases. Also, negotiate the sample fee refund policy, where the cost of samples is deducted from your first bulk order, effectively reducing your initial R&D investment.
