Metal glasses frame manufacturers

When sourcing metal frames, the material choice directly impacts durability and skin comfort. Monel is a common, economical choice known for its malleability. Stainless Steel is highly recommended for its corrosion resistance and strength-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for thin, minimalist designs. For premium markets, Titanium (Pure or Beta) is the gold standard because it is hypoallergenic, ultra-lightweight, and extremely flexible, which reduces after-sales complaints regarding skin irritation or frame breakage.

Buyers must ensure products comply with ISO 12870, which specifies fundamental requirements for unglazed spectacle frames. Key technical points include plating quality (IP plating is superior to water plating) to prevent peeling, and hinge durability, where spring hinges should withstand at least 20,000 opening/closing cycles. Additionally, verify that the nickel release levels meet international safety standards (like REACH) to avoid allergic reactions in end-users.

Precision is critical for lens fitment. Check for CNC machining accuracy in the rim grooves to ensure lenses don't pop out. Examine the welding points (especially at the bridge and lugs); they should be seamless and clean without visible oxidation. Requesting a sample for a 'drop test' and 'salt spray test' is essential to validate the structural integrity and the longevity of the surface finish against sweat and humidity.

Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com typically offer laser-engraved logos on the temples or lenses and custom acetate temple tips. You should look for suppliers who provide CAD design services and can adjust frame dimensions (bridge width, temple length) to suit specific regional facial structures, such as Asian fit or Global fit bridges.

Eyewear is often classified as a Class I Medical Device in many regions. For the US market, the supplier must be FDA registered, and for the EU, CE marking and Declaration of Conformity (DoC) are mandatory. Failure to provide these documents can lead to customs seizure or heavy fines. Always confirm the supplier's certification status before placing a bulk order.

Metal frames involve high tooling costs. For ready-to-ship models, MOQs can be as low as 12-50 pieces, but for custom colors or designs, expect MOQs of 300-500 pieces. Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO); a slightly higher unit price for Titanium may yield better margins and lower return rates than cheap alloy frames. Ask for tiered pricing where the unit cost drops by 10-15% when moving from 500 to 2,000 units.

To ensure transaction security, use secured payment terms offered by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Never pay 100% upfront; a 30% deposit and 70% balance after passing a third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is the industry standard. The inspection should focus on quantity verification, coating thickness, and alignment checks to ensure the frames are not warped during production.

Because glasses frames are lightweight but high-value, Air Freight or Express Couriers (DHL/FedEx/UPS) are usually the most cost-effective for orders under 500 units, offering a balance of speed and safety. Ensure the supplier uses individual polybags and bubble wrap within a reinforced 5-layer corrugated master carton to prevent crushing during transit. For large sea freight orders, ensure the use of desiccants to prevent moisture from affecting the metal finish.
