N95 mask manufacturers

For the U.S. market, N95 masks must be NIOSH-approved (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) under 42 CFR Part 84. If you are sourcing for the European market, the equivalent is the FFP2 or FFP3 standard under EN 149:2001+A1:2009, which requires a CE mark from a notified body. Ensure the supplier provides a TC (Testing and Certification) number that can be verified on the official CDC/NIOSH website.

The core component is the melt-blown non-woven fabric, which provides an electrostatic charge to capture particles. A high-quality N95 mask must achieve a filtration efficiency of ≥95% for non-oil-based particles (0.3 microns). Additionally, check the Inhalation Resistance (≤35 mm H2O) and Exhalation Resistance (≤25 mm H2O) to ensure user comfort during prolonged wear.

Prioritize masks with a dual-strap head harness design rather than ear loops, as head straps are mandatory for true NIOSH N95 compliance to ensure a tight facial seal. The adjustable nose clip should be made of durable aluminum to prevent air leakage. Request fit-test reports to confirm the mask maintains its shape and seal across different face shapes.

N95 masks typically have a shelf life of 3 to 5 years. The electrostatic properties of the melt-blown layer degrade if exposed to high humidity or extreme temperatures. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof packaging and stores inventory in a controlled environment with humidity <80% and temperatures between -20°C to +30°C.

Always verify the NIOSH logo, TC number, and manufacturer name printed directly on the mask. Cross-reference this data with the NIOSH Certified Equipment List (CEL). Be wary of suppliers claiming 'FDA Approved' as a substitute for NIOSH certification; for medical-grade N95s, both FDA clearance and NIOSH approval are required. Use Made-in-China.com's audited supplier reports to filter for factories with verified export licenses.

Focus on batch consistency rather than just the lowest price. Negotiate a contract that includes a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) clause by a third party like SGS or Intertek. For large orders, request a tiered pricing structure where the final 20% payment is released only after the goods pass customs clearance and quality sampling in the destination country.

Ensure the HS Code (typically 6307.90) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays. Many countries have strict export regulations on medical supplies; verify that the supplier is on the 'White List' issued by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMHPIE). For shipping, use vacuum-compressed packaging to reduce volumetric weight and lower air freight costs.
