Oil brake manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize piston configuration (2-piston for standard use, 4-piston for downhill/e-MTB) and mineral oil vs. DOT fluid compatibility. Ensure the hose length matches your frame geometry and verify that the mounting standard (Post Mount or Flat Mount) aligns with your fork and frame specifications. High-quality sets should feature tool-free reach adjustment and heat dissipation fins on brake pads.

For the European market, products must comply with EN 15194 (for e-bikes) and ISO 4210 (safety requirements for bicycles). In the US, adherence to CPSC 16 CFR Part 1512 is essential. Always request TÜV or SGS test reports covering burst pressure tests and braking distance performance under wet and dry conditions.

Request data on seal integrity to prevent oil leakage, which is the most common failure point. The master cylinder should be made of forged aluminum alloy rather than cast metal for better pressure resistance. Ask for fatigue test results (typically 100,000+ actuations) and verify the anodizing quality to ensure corrosion resistance in salty or humid environments.

Ensure the supplier provides bleed kits and compatible replacement pads (sintered, organic, or semi-metallic). A professional supplier should offer a 12 to 24-month warranty on the cylinders and seals. Confirm the availability of technical exploded-view diagrams and maintenance manuals in English to support your local service teams.

The primary risk is leakage during air freight due to pressure changes. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed packaging and high-quality compression fittings. Additionally, check if the brake fluid is classified as dangerous goods; while mineral oil is generally safer, some carriers require MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for customs clearance.

Utilize Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery. It is highly recommended to hire a third-party inspection agency (like V-Trust or QIMA) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI), specifically checking for oil seepage and lever firmness on a randomized sample of 5-10% of the total order.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 500, 1000, and 5000 units) and request spare parts kits (seals, olives, and needles) to be included at no extra cost (typically 2-3% extra parts). For long-term partnerships, negotiate for OEM branding/logo laser etching which is often free for orders exceeding 500 sets.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that may apply to bicycle parts originating from China in certain regions like the EU. Verify the HS Code (typically 8714.94) with your customs broker to determine the exact import tariffs and ensure all Certificates of Origin are correctly prepared to leverage any existing trade agreements.
