Rattan chair manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between Natural Rattan, which is best for indoor or covered patio use due to its vulnerability to moisture and UV, and PE (Polyethylene) Rattan, which is the industry standard for all-weather outdoor furniture. PE rattan is 100% recyclable, UV-resistant, and waterproof. For commercial projects, ensure the PE rattan is high-density (HDPE) to prevent cracking and fading over time.

The internal frame is critical. Prioritize powder-coated aluminum frames with a wall thickness of at least 1.2mm to 1.5mm for a balance of lightweight portability and rust resistance. For heavy-duty commercial use, stainless steel or reinforced steel frames are alternatives, but they must have anti-corrosion coatings to pass salt spray tests.

For the European market, ensure products meet EN 581-1/2/3 standards for outdoor furniture safety and stability. For the US market, compliance with ASTM F1561-03 for commercial outdoor seating is recommended. Additionally, verify that any cushions provided meet fire retardancy standards such as BS5852 (UK) or CAL117 (USA), and that the rattan material is REACH or RoHS compliant regarding chemical substances.

Request close-up photos or samples to inspect the tightness of the weave. High-quality chairs feature uniform tension and hidden end-points (the rattan ends should be tucked under the frame, not exposed). Check for reinforced cross-weaving at high-stress points like the seat and backrest to ensure a weight capacity of at least 150kg (330 lbs).

The main risks are moisture damage (mold) for natural rattan and deformation due to stacking for all types. Ensure the supplier uses silica gel desiccant packets in every container. For logistics, prioritize stackable designs to maximize container utilization and reduce CBM (Cubic Meter) costs, but insist on corrugated paper wrapping and edge protectors to prevent friction damage during transit.

Always utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to protect your payments. When negotiating, request a Proforma Invoice (PI) that explicitly details the material density, frame thickness, and warranty period (ideally 2-3 years). Link the final payment to a Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) conducted by a third party like SGS or Intertek to verify that the bulk quality matches the approved sample.

Rattan furniture is highly seasonal. To avoid the peak season rush (January to April), place orders at least 3-4 months in advance. Negotiate a staggered delivery schedule if you lack warehouse space. For long-term partnerships, ask the supplier if they can stock raw materials (PE rattan/frames) in advance to shorten production lead times from the standard 45 days down to 25-30 days during high-demand periods.
