Scrap cpu prices factory manufacturers

The pricing of scrap CPUs is primarily driven by the precious metal content, specifically gold, silver, and palladium. Older generation CPUs (e.g., Ceramic 486/Pentium) typically command higher prices due to thicker gold plating. Modern CPUs have lower gold content but are traded based on weight and volume. Buyers should also consider the purity of the sorting; mixed batches usually result in lower valuations compared to homogenous lots categorized by specific model series.

Buyers should classify inventory into three main categories: Ceramic CPUs (highest value), Plastic/Fiber CPUs (mid-range), and Slot-in CPUs (variable). It is essential to verify the pin condition (gold-plated pins vs. pinless LGA) and the presence of integrated heat spreaders (IHS), as these affect the net weight of recoverable material. Always request a detailed assay report or a sample recovery test to confirm the yield of precious metals per kilogram.

Sourcing scrap CPUs involves strict adherence to the Basel Convention, which regulates the transboundary movement of hazardous wastes. Suppliers must provide ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and R2 (Responsible Recycling) or e-Stewards certifications. Ensure the factory complies with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) to manage toxic elements like lead or mercury that may be present in older solder or components.

A professional factory should offer on-site or video inspections of their sorting and weighing processes. Look for suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have Audited Supplier status and a history of high-volume exports. Verify their weighing equipment calibration certificates and ensure they use tamper-evident packaging for high-value ceramic scrap to prevent substitution during transit.

The most significant risk is material substitution or 'padding', where lower-value electronic waste is mixed into high-value CPU lots. To mitigate this, use third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to verify the cargo at the loading port. Another risk is fluctuating commodity prices; since scrap value is tied to the London Metal Exchange (LME) gold prices, buyers should use short-term price locking or hedging strategies to protect their margins.

Negotiations should focus on yield guarantees rather than just the price per kilogram. Request a tiered pricing structure based on the volume—orders exceeding 5 tons typically allow for a 5-10% discount on processing fees. Additionally, negotiate for Net 30 payment terms after the assay results are confirmed at the destination refinery, though initial orders will likely require a Letter of Credit (L/C) for security.

Scrap CPUs are often classified under HS Code 854810 (Waste and scrap of primary cells, primary batteries, and electric accumulators). You must ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin, a Packing List detailing net/gross weight, and a Hazardous Waste Manifest if required by the destination country. For shipping, use 20ft reinforced containers to prevent structural damage from heavy weight, and ensure the cargo is insured for 110% of the invoice value.

Always conduct transactions through secure payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com, utilizing their Trade Assurance services. Avoid direct wire transfers to personal accounts. For large-scale factory contracts, insist on a Performance Bond (PB) of 2% to ensure the supplier fulfills the quality and quantity specifications outlined in the Purchase Order (PO).
