When sourcing supplements, you must prioritize Ingredient Purity and Concentration. Look for standardized extracts (e.g., Macamide content in Maca or Saponins in Tribulus Terrestris). Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify the absence of heavy metals, microbial contaminants, and undisclosed pharmaceutical adulterants like Sildenafil.

Suppliers must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ideally hold ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications. For the U.S. market, products must comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 111; for the EU, they must meet EFSA regulations. Ensure all packaging includes accurate labeling of allergens and clear dosage instructions in the target market's language.

Request third-party laboratory testing reports from recognized bodies like SGS or Intertek. Conduct a small-scale sample trial to evaluate packaging integrity and shelf-life stability. It is critical to confirm that the active ingredients are heat-stable if shipping through tropical climate zones.

The biggest risk is Customs Seizure due to prohibited ingredients. Different countries have varying lists of controlled substances; what is a legal supplement in one country may be a prescription drug in another. Always consult a customs broker to verify the HS Code and ingredient legality in the destination country.

Focus on Quality Assurance (QA) clauses in your contract. Negotiate for a pre-shipment inspection by an independent third party. Demand that the supplier uses medical-grade blister packaging or induction-sealed bottles to prevent tampering and moisture ingress during long-term sea freight.

Utilize Secured Payment services provided by the platform to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of receipt and inspection. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Ensure the Proforma Invoice (PI) explicitly states the batch number and expiration dates (which should be at least 18-24 months from the date of shipping).

For high-end supplements, Climate-Controlled (Reefer) Containers or air freight are preferred to prevent degradation from extreme heat. Ensure the outer cartons are double-walled and moisture-proof. For documentation, ensure the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is included to avoid delays during airline security checks.
