When sourcing adult wellness products, the most critical factor is the material. You must ensure the supplier uses 100% medical-grade silicone that is BPA-free, phthalate-free, and non-porous. Request FDA registration or LFGB/REACH certification to ensure the product is body-safe and does not contain harmful chemicals that could cause skin irritation or toxicity.

Focus on the internal components: look for low-noise motors (under 50dB) and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of at least 500mAh for long-lasting use. Ensure the product has an IPX7 waterproof rating, allowing for easy cleaning and versatility. Additionally, verify that the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) includes overcharge protection to prevent overheating during charging.

Request a Life Cycle Test report from the manufacturer, which measures how many hours the motor can run before failure. For silicone products, ask for tensile strength tests to ensure the material doesn't tear easily. It is highly recommended to order samples to test the vibration intensity, surface texture, and button responsiveness before committing to a bulk order.

For retail readiness, look for suppliers offering discreet OEM/ODM packaging. This includes custom-printed gift boxes with matte lamination and magnetic closures. Ensure the packaging includes multi-language manuals and all necessary compliance markings (CE, RoHS, WEEE) required for your target market's customs clearance.

Different countries have varying regulations regarding 'obscene materials.' Ensure your products are classified as 'Personal Massagers' or 'Adult Novelties' to avoid customs seizures. Always check the import laws of your specific country (e.g., some Middle Eastern or Southeast Asian countries have strict prohibitions) and ensure all HS Codes (typically 9019.10) are declared accurately.

Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading Service to protect your payments. Only work with Audited Suppliers who have undergone third-party onsite inspections by firms like SGS or TÜV Rheinland. This minimizes the risk of 'fly-by-night' operations and ensures the factory actually possesses the manufacturing capabilities they claim.

Negotiate based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., discounts at 500, 1000, and 5000 units). If you are a long-term partner, negotiate for spare parts (1-2% extra units) to cover potential defects, and request shorter lead times (ideally 15-25 days) for repeat orders.

For small to medium batches, Air Express (DHL/FedEx) is preferred for speed and tracking, but ensure the supplier provides a Battery Declaration (MSDS) for air transport. For large bulk orders, Sea Freight (LCL/FCL) is more economical. Always request discreet outer labeling (e.g., 'Plastic Hardware' or 'Electronic Samples') on the master cartons to maintain privacy and reduce theft risk during transit.
