Tie guan yin manufacturers

Tie Guan Yin is generally categorized into three main styles: Zhengwei (Light/Green), Xiaoqing (Medium), and Nongxiang (Roasted/Strong). For B2B buyers, Zhengwei is popular for its orchid fragrance and bright green liquor, while Nongxiang undergoes a traditional charcoal baking process, offering a mellow taste and longer shelf life, making it more suitable for long-distance international shipping.

High-quality Tie Guan Yin should feature tightly curled, heavy leaves (often described as 'dragonfly heads') with a sandy green color. When brewed, look for the 'Guanyin Rhyme' (Guanyin Yun), a unique lingering aftertaste. The leaves should be thick and bright, and the fragrance should remain distinct even after 7 rounds of steeping.

Compliance is critical for food products. Ensure the tea meets EU or FDA pesticide residue limits (MRLs). Key certifications to request from suppliers include HACCP, ISO 22000, and Organic certifications (like USDA or EU Organic). Always verify that the product has a Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the exporting country's customs.

Autumn tea (harvested in Sept-Oct) is widely considered the best for Tie Guan Yin due to its intense aroma and balanced flavor, often commanding the highest prices. Spring tea is prized for its nutritional content and freshness. Summer and Winter harvests are generally lower in quality and are often used for mass-market tea bags or extraction.

Always request a third-party lab test report (e.g., SGS or Eurofins) for each specific batch before shipment. On Made-in-China.com, you can prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site factory inspections to ensure their production environment meets hygiene and safety standards.

Tie Guan Yin, especially the light-fermented version, is highly sensitive to oxidation. Ensure the tea is vacuum-sealed in aluminum foil bags and packed in sturdy outer cartons. For long-distance sea freight, refrigerated containers (reefers) are recommended to maintain a temperature between 0°C to 5°C to prevent the loss of the orchid aroma.

Tea prices fluctuate based on the market auction price of raw leaves. Establish a tiered pricing structure based on volume. For initial orders, request a small MOQ (e.g., 5-10kg) to verify quality consistency. Mentioning your intent for a long-term partnership can often reduce the sample cost or lead to a discount on the first bulk order.

Use secure payment methods such as Letters of Credit (L/C) for large volumes or Escrow services provided by reputable platforms. Ensure the Bill of Lading (B/L) and Certificate of Origin are clearly defined in the contract to avoid customs clearance delays in the destination country.
