Titanium bike frame manufacturers

B2B buyers should prioritize Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V) for the main tubes due to its optimal balance of strength and weight, while Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is preferred for high-stress areas like head tubes and dropouts. Ensure the frame features butted tubing to reduce weight without sacrificing structural integrity. Verify that the welding uses TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding in a vacuum or argon-shielded environment to prevent oxygen embrittlement, which is the most common cause of frame failure.

Ensure the manufacturer complies with ISO 4210 standards, which specify safety and performance requirements for bicycles. Request fatigue test reports (typically 100,000 cycles) and impact test data. For the US market, ensure compliance with CPSC 16 CFR Part 1512. It is highly recommended to source from suppliers on Made-in-China.com who hold ISO 9001 certification and offer third-party inspection services like SGS or TÜV Rheinland.

A top-tier supplier should support OEM/ODM services, providing CAD/BIM drawings for geometry approval. Check for compatibility with modern standards such as T47 or BSA threaded bottom brackets, 12x142mm thru-axles, and internal cable routing for both mechanical and electronic (Di2/eTap) groupsets. The ability to offer various finishes, such as sandblasting, hand-brushing, or PVD vacuum plating, is a sign of a sophisticated manufacturer.

While the initial cost is higher, titanium offers a superior lifecycle ROI due to its corrosion resistance and fatigue life, effectively lasting a lifetime. Unlike carbon, titanium is impact-resistant and does not fail catastrophically. For retailers, this translates to lower warranty claim rates and higher resale value. Aim for a target wholesale price that allows for a 40-60% retail markup depending on the brand positioning.

Always utilize Secured Trading Services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure payment is only released upon confirmation of shipment. Conduct a factory audit or hire a local agent to verify the supplier's welding environment (clean room). Avoid suppliers who refuse to provide material mill certificates (MTC) for the specific batch of titanium used in your order.

Titanium frames are sensitive to surface scratches. Insist on individual foam wrapping and double-walled corrugated export cartons. For bulk orders, use palletized shipping to prevent crushing. Ensure the Incoterms are clearly defined; FOB (Free On Board) is generally recommended for buyers who have their own freight forwarders to better control customs clearance and import duties.

Titanium production is time-consuming. Typical lead times are 45–60 days. Negotiate a sample-to-bulk credit, where the cost of the initial sample is deducted from a bulk order of 10+ units. For long-term partnerships, request a rolling forecast agreement to lock in raw material prices, as titanium market prices can fluctuate significantly.
