Toy candy manufacturers

Toy candy must meet dual compliance standards for both food safety and toy safety. For the candy component, ensure adherence to FDA (US), EFSA (EU), or local health department regulations, specifically regarding permitted food dyes, sugar content, and shelf-life labeling. For the toy component, products must pass ASTM F963 (US) or EN71 (EU) testing to ensure they are non-toxic, lead-free, and free of small parts that pose choking hazards for children under 3 years old.

Prioritize toys made from BPA-free, food-grade plastics (like PP or ABS) to ensure safety if the toy comes into contact with the candy. Conduct drop tests and tension tests to ensure the toy does not break into sharp shards or small pieces during rough play. It is highly recommended to source from suppliers with ISO 9001 or ICTI (International Council of Toy Industries) certification to guarantee consistent manufacturing quality.

Packaging must be moisture-proof and airtight to prevent the candy from melting or spoiling, especially during long-term sea freight. Ensure the production date and expiration date are clearly printed in a format compliant with the destination country. For B2B buyers, choosing attractive, retail-ready display boxes (PDQ) can significantly reduce secondary packaging costs and improve sell-through rates in retail environments.

Yes, most professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com offer extensive customization. This includes custom candy flavors/shapes, private label packaging, and unique toy designs. When opting for ODM, ensure you have a clear intellectual property (IP) agreement to protect your designs, and verify the supplier's ability to create custom molds with a precision of ±0.1mm.

The biggest risks are temperature fluctuations and customs delays. Candy can melt if stored in high-temperature containers (above 30°C). Always request temperature-controlled shipping (reefer containers) for large volumes or ensure the use of thermal blankets. Additionally, ensure all Food Facility Registration (FFR) numbers are valid to avoid customs seizures.

Utilize secure payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon proof of shipment. Always conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) through third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek to verify that the candy quality and toy safety match the approved samples before final payment.

Focus on tiered pricing based on volume; typically, a 10-15% discount can be achieved when moving from LCL (Less than Container Load) to a Full Container Load (FCL). Negotiate for free spare parts (extra toys) or a 1-2% defect allowance credit to cover potential damages during transit. Also, request longer shelf-life guarantees (at least 18-24 months) for bulk stock.

For the US, you must comply with the FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) and ensure the toy meets CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) requirements. For the EU, the product must bear the CE mark, and the candy must comply with REACH regarding chemical substances. Always ask the supplier for a Declaration of Conformity (DoC) before placing the order.
