Used jacket manufacturers

In the second-hand clothing industry, quality is categorized by Grading (Grade A, B, or C). For B2B buyers, Grade A is the standard, requiring that jackets have no holes, no permanent stains, no pilling, and functional zippers. You should request a detailed sorting list from the supplier to ensure the ratio of materials (e.g., leather, denim, windbreakers) meets your market demand. High-quality sorting is the key to maintaining a high resale value.

Most countries require a Fumigation Certificate and a Sanitary/Health Certificate to prove the goods have been professionally disinfected. Ensure the supplier uses non-toxic disinfectant that leaves no strong chemical odor. For specific markets like the EU or Africa, verify if there are Bale Weight restrictions or mandatory Pre-shipment Inspections (PSI) such as SGS or Intertek to avoid customs rejection.

Used jackets are typically sold in compressed bales (45kg, 80kg, or 100kg). To maximize container utilization, choose a supplier capable of using high-pressure hydraulic balers. A standard 40ft HC container should ideally fit 280 to 320 bales (approx. 25-28 tons). Ensure the outer woven bags are durable and double-strapped to prevent bursting during transit.

Size requirements vary significantly; for example, African markets often require larger sizes, while Southeast Asian markets prefer smaller, slim-fit styles. You should request a loading video or live inspection during the baling process to confirm the style mix (e.g., hooded vs. non-hooded, vintage vs. modern). Vintage branded jackets (e.g., 90s sports brands) often command a premium price and should be negotiated separately.

The primary risk is Quality Inconsistency, where the top of the bale looks good but the middle contains 'trash' (Grade C). To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and hire a third-party inspector to perform a random bale opening. Another risk is Weight Fraud; always cross-reference the Bill of Lading weight with the supplier's packing list.

Focus on the 'Cream' (Top Grade) percentage rather than just the lowest price per kg. Negotiate a trial order of 1x20ft container before committing to a 40ft HC. Ask for a fixed price per bale based on a specific weight to avoid fluctuations. Reliable suppliers on Made-in-China.com will often provide a sorting video as proof of quality before final payment.

Check your local Import License requirements, as some countries have strict quotas or bans on used textiles. Ensure the HS Code (typically 6309.00) is correctly declared. For shipping, Ocean Freight is the only economically viable method for bulk used clothing. Always request 14-21 days of free detention time at the destination port to allow for potential customs clearance delays.

Always conduct transactions through verified channels and avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. Use Escrow-based payment terms where funds are only released upon proof of shipment (Copy of B/L). Verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification on the platform to ensure they are a legitimate factory/sorter and not a middleman with no quality control.
