Wholesale plastic cake boxes manufacturers

When sourcing plastic cake boxes, the primary concern is food safety and structural integrity. You should prioritize PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) for its high clarity and recyclability, or PP (Polypropylene) if the product requires heat resistance. Ensure the material is BPA-free and meets FDA or EU food contact regulations. For heavy cakes, verify the base thickness (typically 0.5mm to 1.2mm) to prevent cracking or bending during transport.

Look for features such as anti-fog coating on the transparent lids to maintain visibility in refrigerated displays. The locking mechanism should be a secure snap-lock or perimeter seal to prevent accidental opening. For multi-tiered cakes, confirm the load-bearing capacity of the base and ensure the interlocking design allows for stable stacking during high-volume delivery.

Buyers must verify that suppliers hold ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications, which govern food safety management systems. For the US market, FDA 21 CFR 177.1630 compliance is essential, while European markets require EC No. 1935/2004. Always request a Migration Test Report to ensure that chemicals from the plastic do not leach into the food under various temperature conditions.

Yes, most professional manufacturers on Made-in-China.com offer customization. This includes silk-screen printing, hot stamping, or custom-embossed logos on the lid. Additionally, you can request custom dimensions to fit specific cake sizes, though this may require a mold fee if the size is not standard. MOQs for customized printing typically range from 3,000 to 5,000 units.

Plastic boxes are prone to cracking and scratching. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons and ensure the boxes are nested or flat-packed to minimize movement. Request PE film wrapping for each bundle to prevent surface abrasions. For large sea freight orders, using pallets with corner protectors is highly recommended to prevent crushing.

Focus on Total Landed Cost. While the unit price might be low, shipping volume (CBM) for pre-assembled boxes is high. Negotiate for knock-down (flat-pack) designs to reduce shipping costs by up to 60%. For long-term partnerships, ask for a tiered pricing structure where the price drops significantly at the 10,000+ unit mark.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until delivery is confirmed. Before placing a bulk order, always request a production sample and consider hiring a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to conduct a pre-shipment inspection to verify quantity, material quality, and packaging integrity.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties and Plastic Taxes in certain regions (e.g., the UK and EU). Some countries have strict bans on single-use plastics; ensure your product is classified as reusable or made from recycled content if necessary. Check the HS Code (typically 392310) with your local customs broker to determine the exact import duty rates for your country.
