Wooden fan manufacturers

For premium gift markets, prioritize Sandalwood or Rosewood due to their natural fragrance and fine grain. For mass-market promotional items, Bamboo or Schima Superba are more cost-effective and durable. Ensure the wood is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 8-12% to prevent warping or cracking during cross-border transit.

Focus on the rivet tightness; the fan should open and close smoothly without being loose. The rib thickness should be uniform (typically 2mm to 3mm) to balance lightweight handling with structural integrity. For folding fans, verify that the fabric or paper leaf is bonded with high-strength adhesive to prevent peeling under high humidity.

Buyers must ensure compliance with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification to prove sustainable sourcing. For the US market, ensure the finish is lead-free and complies with CPSIA. For the EU, products must meet REACH regulations regarding chemical substances in dyes and lacquers. Always request a Phytosanitary Certificate to clear customs smoothly.

Common methods include Laser Engraving for a permanent, high-end feel on the ribs, and Silk Screen Printing or Digital Heat Transfer for vibrant logos on the fan surface. For luxury orders, consider hollow-out carving (fretwork), which showcases traditional craftsmanship and increases the product's perceived value.

Wooden fans are fragile and sensitive to humidity. Insist on double-corrugated export cartons and individual moisture-proof OPP bags. For bulk sea freight, use silica gel desiccant packets in every master carton to prevent mold growth. On Made-in-China.com, you can specifically request suppliers to provide drop-test reports for their packaging.

Negotiate based on seasonal volume; placing orders during the 'off-season' (Q4 and Q1) can result in 10-15% lower prices. Ask for tiered pricing (e.g., 500, 2000, and 5000 units) and request that the mold fee for custom logos be waived if the order exceeds a certain value. Always clarify the Incoterms (FOB is recommended) to maintain control over shipping costs.

Utilize Secured Trading Services provided by platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure payment is only released upon confirmation of shipment. Conduct Third-Party Inspections (PSI) before the final payment to verify that the wood quality and printing match the approved sample. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts; always use verified corporate bank accounts.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties that may apply to specific wooden handicrafts in certain regions. Check if your country requires a Lacey Act Declaration (USA) or similar environmental declarations. Working with Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com helps ensure that the necessary export licenses and origin certificates (CO) are accurately prepared to avoid customs delays.
