Yiwu scarf manufacturers

Buyers should distinguish between natural fibers (silk, wool, cotton) and synthetic fibers (polyester, acrylic, viscose). For high-end markets, prioritize 100% Mulberry Silk with a weight of 12-14 momme or Grade A Cashmere. For mass-market promotional items, high-density polyester with a soft-touch finish is the most cost-effective choice. Always request a material composition lab report to ensure the fabric matches the declared specifications.

For the US market, scarves must comply with CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) regarding lead content and phthalates, and meet 16 CFR Part 1610 standards for flammability of clothing textiles. For the EU, products must adhere to REACH regulations, specifically ensuring the absence of AZO dyes and harmful chemicals. Additionally, ensure OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification if you are marketing the products as eco-friendly or skin-safe.

Assess the colorfastness to rubbing (wet and dry) and washing, aiming for a Grade 4 or higher on the grayscale. For patterned scarves, inquire whether the supplier uses digital inkjet printing (ideal for complex designs and small batches) or traditional screen printing (more economical for large volumes). Ensure the penetration of ink is sufficient so the design is visible on the reverse side, especially for premium silk products.

For winter fashion, focus on thermal insulation and pilling resistance (Grade 3-4). For summer sun protection, verify the UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating, ideally UPF 50+. For hijabs or religious wear, prioritize non-slip textures and opacity. Always check the hemming technique; hand-rolled edges are preferred for luxury items, while machine-zigzag or baby hems are standard for daily wear.

Yiwu is a massive hub with varying quality levels. To mitigate risk, conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) through a third-party agency. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to ensure payment is only released upon confirmation of goods. Never skip the sampling phase; compare the mass production gold sample against the initial prototype to check for size deviations (standard tolerance is ±3cm) and thread trimming quality.

Since Yiwu is highly competitive, leverage volume-based pricing. Ask for a tiered quotation (e.g., 500, 2,000, and 5,000 units). You can often negotiate a 3-5% discount by agreeing to standardized packaging rather than custom boxes. Additionally, negotiate payment terms such as 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) to maintain cash flow leverage.

Scarves are lightweight but can be bulky. For small trial orders, International Express (DHL/FedEx) is fastest. For medium loads, Air Freight offers a balance of speed and cost. For large bulk orders, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical. To save costs, request vacuum compression packaging, which can reduce the shipping volume by up to 40%, significantly lowering the freight-per-unit cost.

Check the HS Code (typically 6214 for scarves) against your country's tariff schedule. Be aware of anti-dumping duties or specific trade barriers on Chinese textiles in your region. Ensure the supplier provides a correct Certificate of Origin (CO), which may help you qualify for preferential tariff rates under specific trade agreements.
