Pure honey manufacturers

When evaluating pure honey, the most critical factor is the moisture content, which should ideally be below 18% to prevent fermentation. You should also verify the HMF (Hydroxymethylfurfural) levels, as high levels indicate heat damage or aging. Ensure the honey is free from C4 sugars (syrup adulteration) and antibiotic residues like chloramphenicol, which are strictly prohibited in international trade.

Suppliers must adhere to the Codex Alimentarius Standard for Honey (Codex Stan 12-1981). For the US market, FDA registration and FSMA compliance are required. For the EU, the supplier must be on the approved list of third countries for animal product exports and meet EU Directive 2001/110/EC regarding labeling and purity.

The value of honey is often determined by its monofloral vs. polyfloral status. Monofloral honeys like Manuka, Acacia, or Sidr command higher prices due to unique medicinal properties or flavor profiles. Request a pollen analysis (melissopalynology) report to verify the botanical and geographical origin, ensuring the product matches the premium price point.

For bulk B2B orders, honey is typically shipped in food-grade epoxy-lined steel drums (approx. 290-300kg) or IBC totes. Ensure the packaging is BPA-free and hermetically sealed to prevent moisture absorption. For retail-ready products, glass jars or PET bottles must be packed with sufficient cushioning to prevent breakage during sea freight.

Adulteration with rice, corn, or beet syrup is a major risk. Always demand NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) testing results, which is the gold standard for detecting sophisticated sugar syrups. Avoid deals that are significantly below market price, as pure honey has a stable global commodity floor price.

Focus on transparency of the supply chain. Ask for videos of the beekeeping cooperatives and the processing facility. Negotiate for a staged payment plan where the final 30-50% is released only after a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third party like SGS or Intertek confirms the lab results.

Utilize secured payment terms and ensure all specifications (moisture, color, diastase activity) are clearly written into the Sales Contract. If sourcing through Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site verification of their business license and production capabilities.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD), particularly for honey originating from certain Asian regions entering the US or EU. Check the Harmonized System (HS) Code (typically 0409.00) against your country's tariff schedule to calculate the Total Landed Cost before finalizing the purchase.
